The Municipality of Cazin is one of 12 municipalities and cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina which in 2014, 2015 and 2016 participated in the project “Strengthening Local Democracy /Democracy IV – LOD IV” implemented by UNDP and funded by the European Union from the Instrument for Pre-Accession (IPA) in the amount of 2 million Euro to contribute to democratic stabilization, reconciliation and further development of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through this project the Municipality improved the mechanism of allocation funds for financing projects of NGOs / non-profit organizations through adoption of methodology that allows the non-governmental sector to apply professional approach to
writing and project management, as well as in monitoring the implementation of projects and assessment of the results achieved. In the past three years the Municipality used the
approved grant funds from WBIF- Western Balkans Investment Framework (Investment Framework for the Western Balkans) in the amount of 700,000 Euros. Approved funds are used for creation of needed study-project documentation for the central sewage system. Municipality of Cazin is one of 16 municipalities and cities from four countries of Southeast Europe: Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Montenegro, which participated in the project “Collecting data on Solid Waste in South East Europe” in 2014 and 2015. The project is implemented by the Association of Solid Waste Management Serbia (SeSWA), Association for the water sector and environment sector “Aquasan network in BiH” and the Network of Associations of Local Authorities in South-East Europe (NALAS), with the support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) through the Open regional Fund for modernization of municipal services (ORF MMS).
